Competitive
On the Field and in Life
Arkansas Platinum–Darr is a competitive, college-prep travel softball program committed to developing both the player and the person. We help athletes pursue their softball goals while building qualities that will benefit them long after their playing careers are over.
Sports provide an incredible environment for young women to learn discipline, accountability, communication, leadership, confidence, resilience, teamwork, and how to respond to adversity.
Our goal is not simply to prepare athletes for their next tournament or even their four years of collegiate softball. We want to help them develop skills they will carry into college, careers, relationships, leadership, and life.
Our Core Values
These four core values guide how we coach, compete, develop, and support the young women in our program. They shape our expectations on the field, in the classroom, and in life.
Attitude & Effort
We teach athletes to focus on what they can control. Results will vary, but attitude, effort, response to adversity, coachability, and how they treat the people around them are choices they make every day.
Commitment & Work Ethic
Goals require investment. We teach athletes to take ownership of their development, follow through on responsibilities, work outside of scheduled practices, and understand the relationship between what they want and what they are willing to do to achieve it.
Education — On & Off the Field
We prioritize becoming students of the game as well as successful students in the classroom. Softball IQ, recruiting education, academics, decision-making, leadership, and personal development are all part of our program.
Energize & Entertain
We want athletes who compete with energy, confidence, enthusiasm, and personality. Our players learn that during recruiting opportunities, college coaches are evaluating more than physical ability. How an athlete competes, communicates, responds, and interacts with teammates can help separate her from the crowd.
Practice & Team Commitment
Practice Location: Russellville, Arkansas
We have players from long distances, to help welcome players from any distance we have practice once per week on Sundays (on weeks that we don't have tournaments)
We understand that athletes have school, family responsibilities, individual development, and other commitments. Our scheduled team practices are designed to be purposeful and productive.
Players also receive development expectations and weekly assignments outside of organized team practice to encourage consistent individual improvement.
The exact schedule may change when necessary and will always be communicated clearly to the team and families.
Our Competitive Schedule
Arkansas Platinum–Darr plays a competitive travel softball schedule built with college recruiting and exposure in mind. We may play both in-state and out-of-state events throughout the summer and fall seasons.
Tournament selection is intentional. We want our athletes competing against strong competition while also pursuing events that create appropriate opportunities for college exposure and recruiting.
Our schedule may include:
• Competitive showcase tournaments
• College exposure events
• College-hosted events
• High-level regional tournaments
• In-state events when they fit our program's goals
• Out-of-state travel for appropriate competitive and recruiting opportunities
We don't build a schedule simply to fill weekends. We build it with development, competition, and recruiting opportunities in mind.
Program Costs
Monthly Team Dues
$50 per month
Monthly team dues help support the ongoing operation of the program.
Tournament Fees
Variable
Tournament entry fees are split. The exact amount may change from event to event.
We want families to clearly understand the financial commitment associated with the program before joining. We are committed to being transparent and upfront about costs.
Uniforms & Mizuno Affiliation
Arkansas Platinum–Darr has multiple uniform combinations, giving our team flexibility throughout the season and creating a polished, collegiate-style appearance.
We are also proud to be a Mizuno-affiliated program. Through our Mizuno affiliation, players have access to discounted Mizuno equipment, apparel, and other eligible gear.
This affiliation is an additional benefit available to athletes in our program. Not every product is discounted, and these items are not included in team dues.
Development Beyond Team Practice
Player development is not limited to the hours we spend together on the softball field. Athletes may receive weekly development expectations involving:
• Fielding & Hitting work
• Agility and athletic development
• Upper & Lower-body development
• Individualized weakness work
• Mental-performance development
• Softball education & Recruiting responsibilities
Private lessons may be recommended but are not required. The purpose is to help athletes develop consistency and learn to take ownership of their goals.
The Mental Game Matters
Mental performance is an important part of the Arkansas Platinum–Darr philosophy. Our coaching staff has a strong background and focus on the mental side of athletics. Softball is a game that includes failure, pressure, and adversity. Learning how to handle those experiences makes athletes better players and better prepared for life.
We work on: Confidence, Responding to failure, Controlling the controllables, Handling pressure, Goal setting, and Developing a growth mindset. This is a key differentiator of our program.
The Person Before the Player
We are competitive and want to win, but winning will never be more important than the well-being and development of the young women entrusted to us. We believe coaches have an opportunity to influence young people far beyond softball. We want our athletes to leave this program as better teammates, leaders, and young women. Softball will eventually end; the lessons do not have to.
College Preparation & Recruiting
Arkansas Platinum–Darr is a college-prep program for athletes interested in pursuing opportunities to play softball at the collegiate level. Our program supports athletes through player development, recruiting education, college exposure, and academic accountability.
Recruiting is an individualized process. Our role is to educate, prepare, support, guide, and create opportunities while teaching athletes to take ownership of their own recruiting journey. Our goal is to help her find the RIGHT college fit for her.

Is Arkansas Platinum–Darr the Right Fit?
Choosing a travel softball program is an important decision. The right fit should involve more than tournament schedules, uniforms, or wins and losses. Families should consider coaching philosophy, development, culture, expectations, financial commitment, recruiting approach, and whether the program's values align with what they want for their athlete.
We welcome the opportunity to learn about your athlete, understand her goals, explain our program, and determine whether we are the right fit for one another.
Developing the Player. Building the Person. Preparing Her for What's Next.
